The Grinning Rat pub in St Helens Street, Ipswich is to host an afternoon of folk and acoustic rock music when local duo “Silbury Hill” play at the venue on Sunday the 4th December.
Silbury Hill consists of Scott Dolling, Flute and Guitar, and David Stainer, who plays Guitar and Mandolin for the Duo. They admit to not being folk purists and play a mix of music that includes folk, rock, and popular standards as well as original material. Much of their original material has a local flavour – taking its inspiration from local history, stories, and personalities – some of which is included on their debut CD “The Tudor Rose” which was released earlier this year.
The Duo will be introducing new material – originals and covers – at the Grinning Rat and are currently recording tracks for a new CD for release in the spring 2012
The Duo have enjoyed a busy 2011 which has seen them play at festivals around the region, bars, clubs, universities, beer festivals and even a tea garden – as well as a visit to France for their 3rd annual appearance at the national “Fete de la Musique”.
Silbury Hill will be at the Grinning Rat from 3pm on Sunday 4th December, entry is free.
